Backing up to town forest this new house feels remote with expansive views. The irony is that from the street it is very much part of the suburban context nested between other houses. With the suburbs comes the need to accommodate cars and control the scale of this new five bedroom house. These issues were solved by pushing down the roof line of the house to give it a cottage like feel, while the garage was concealed under an extended farmers porch. Inside oak detailing, dark window frames and horizontal wood ship lap create fields of warmth and interest.
