A historical house under goes a full transformation

The Sumner mansion is rich in history and a catalyst for the development of the area, laying claim to being Jamaica Plains first house on the namesake Sumner Hill.  The home was built for a prominent figure General William Sumner, a man whose father Increase Sumner was Governor of Massachusetts.  The families’ influences were far reaching ,including the planning and development of East Boston.  Subsequently the tunnel to the airport is named after them.  This classic Italianate house thought grand was in need of major repair, providing the opportunity for a full renovation. One that allowed new owners the opportunity to respect the exterior of the house and adapt the interior to suite a more contemporary lifestyle.
